The halal industry, valued at an astounding $2.2 trillion, is capturing the world’s attention. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, believes that UAE businesses can harness this growth in the halal sector.
According to Al Zeyoudi, the halal market is no longer confined to Islamic and Arab countries; it is experiencing continuous expansion, driven by global consumer demand.

Speaking at the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum in São Paulo, Al Zeyoudi stated, “Today, the market value of halal trade is estimated at more than $2.2 trillion, and halal products represent 3.7 percent of total global trade, figures that are constantly increasing.”

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, highlighted the nation’s record exports to Arab League countries, reaching a revenue of $17.74 billion in 2022. Brazil’s exports to the Arab world reflect both the quality of Brazilian products and its ability to meet the demands of this dynamic market.
He also praised Brazil’s halal industry, which is driven by innovation and sustainability, reflecting a commitment to environmental protection and high-quality products. Brazil is a leading supplier of halal products to the Islamic world, surpassing countries like the United States, Indonesia, Turkey, Australia, and China.
Expanding Halal Offerings
While Brazil’s exports are significant, there is room for diversification and expansion in the halal market. The export list primarily consists of essential foods, such as meat, sugar, grains, and cereals. This forum, in its second edition, is promoted by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and certification entity FAMBRAS Halal.
