Sharjah has announced updates to its job age restriction rules, now allowing recruitment of UAE citizens between the ages of 18 and 60. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, directed the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources to find jobs for all eligible applicants within this age range.
The move comes after the misapplication of a law issued in 2018 regarding the Social Security Fund, which led to the stoppage of hiring individuals above the age of 30 by the Human Resources Directorate.
Sheikh Sultan explained, “Our law clearly states that each eligible person between the ages of 18 and 60 should be employed, without specifying any period of employment. However, this law was misinterpreted, and we faced the issue of not hiring individuals over the age of 30.”
Sharjah offers a compelling work environment with numerous benefits, including a four-day workweek, good salaries, maternity leave, and a yearly leave of sixty days. Sharjah University graduates can expect attractive packages, such as a monthly salary of AED 25,000, housing allowance, and other perks.
Job applications have increased in Sharjah due to the attractive compensation and benefits. The employment process is ongoing for Sharjah Police, Civil Defence, universities, and institutions, with the final count of employed individuals to be announced before the year-end.
Sheikh Sultan has also raised pension salaries for retirees, ensuring a fair standard of living for all.
