Global Trends in Renewable Energy Jobs
Investment in renewable energy has been on the rise, leading to job creation in numerous countries. However, the distribution of these jobs remains concentrated in a few key regions. China, with 41% of the global total, continues to lead the way. Brazil, European Union (EU) countries, India, and the United States are also prominent contributors.
Solar photovoltaics (PV) remains the largest employer in the sector, with 4.9 million jobs in 2022, representing over a third of the total renewable energy workforce. Hydropower and biofuels each maintained around 2.5 million jobs, followed by wind power with 1.4 million jobs.
