Red Sea Global Celebrates Inaugural Flight to Red Sea International Airport
Red Sea Global (RSG) marked a historic moment with the arrival of the first flight at Red Sea International Airport (RSI). The SAUDIA flight from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, which takes less than two hours, inaugurated a new twice-weekly service connecting the two cities.
John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, expressed his excitement, saying, “We promised to make The Red Sea a place where people from all around the world would come to experience the best of Saudi culture, hospitality, and nature. Now, with the first flight touching down at Red Sea International Airport and our first resorts receiving bookings, Saudi Arabia’s position on the global tourism map is all but secured.”
Flights from Riyadh to RSI depart each Thursday at 10:50 AM and return the same day. Additionally, a second service operates every Saturday at 12:50 PM, with a return flight to Riyadh at 3:35 PM.
Red Sea International Airport, positioned within an eight-hour flight from 85% of the world’s population, will further expand to accommodate international flights as additional phase-one resorts open.
Red Sea Global’s Commitment to Sustainable Tourism
Red Sea Global has made significant strides in ensuring the region is ready to welcome visitors while upholding responsible development and regenerative tourism. Key achievements include:
- Construction of five solar farms, enabling the first phase of The Red Sea to operate off-grid, powered solely by sunlight, with over 760,000 solar panels installed.
- Establishment of the largest landscape nursery in the region, cultivating over four million trees, plants, and shrubs.
- Opening of a state-of-the-art mangrove nursery with plans to plant 50 million mangroves by 2030.
Upon full completion in 2030, the destination will comprise 50 resorts, offering up to 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also feature luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, dining, and leisure facilities.
