The Oman and Etihad Rail Company (OERC) have joined forces with Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel (Jindal), a leading GCC integrated steel producer, to establish a sustainable end-to-end transport logistics solution. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to facilitate the transportation of up to 4 million tons of raw materials and finished products annually from Jindal’s steel complex at Sohar Port to the UAE through the UAE-Oman Rail Network.

Optimizing Operations for Sustainability

Through this collaboration, Jindal will benefit from fast, cost-effective, and sustainable services offered by the rail network, optimizing its operational integration. The seamless transportation of nearly 4 million tons of raw materials will support Jindal’s ambition to reduce its carbon footprint and aligns with the company’s sustainability objectives.

Contribution to Emission Reduction

By utilizing the Oman-UAE Rail Network, this partnership aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in both Oman and the UAE, in alignment with their national goals of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
